Our honeymoon has started! After a few days of preparations, packing, and cleaning the house (kind of), we got a ride to the Denver airport (thanks Jerry, Suzanne, and Riley!). We got onto the plane without a problem and the flight to LAX was uneventful and ahead of schedule.
LAX is not our favorite airport – lots of construction, poor signage, and terminals don’t have a good connection. We had to take a (free) airport shuttle to get to our terminal, which also meant going through security again. In spite of being in business class, we had to check in two suitcases – we had hoped to do everything carry on but Air Pacific has very low weight limits. We discovered we brought more luggage than we thought; Denise 18 kg and Karel 24 kg (that’s about 40 and 50 pounds). On the other hand, that’s probably not bad for an around-the-world trip, especially considering all the “toys” that we brought with us (MacBook, camera, guitar…). But we surely will encounter some hassles with luggage along the way.
We’re currently relaxing in the LAX airport lounge; our flight to Nadi will leave in three hours. Hopefully we’ll get some sleep in the plane; in 30 years of flying, Karel has slept 4 hours on a plane so the odds are against him. We’ll see! This entry was posted in Honeymoon 2013
